Starting Point Montessori is a gem of a school in the Detroit area. Continuing the proven pedagogy Dr. Montessori started over a hundred years ago, Staring Point Montessori combines a balanced academic curriculum while meeting the unique needs of the children of the modern century. The warm and friendly staff are obvious role models for the children demonstrated by the sociability and concentration these young students show while doing their lessons or at play. Starting Point follows the Montessori ideals of peace and opportunity for all children that began in 1907 Europe while creatively and intelligently having it reflect and apply to the children of Detroit today.

I had the pleasure of visiting Starting Point Montessori, for a CDA observation. The greeting at the door was pleasant and the facilities was beautiful. My observation was wonderful. The teacher was passionate and engaging with the children. The children were excited to be there, this is a great place for your child to learn leadership and religious inspiration.

In 2020 both of my children started their journey with SPM. My son began at the beginning of the school year, and because my daughter has Cerebral Palsy she did not begin right away. For years we searched for a school that would be a right fit for her, yet any other facility we visited was not willing to accept her level of mobility. As I started to lose hope, Starting point gave my daughter a chance and I've been so grateful ever since. For once in our lives, she was not labeled or treated differently. She has been giving the same opportunities as every other student because of that she has blossomed in every way. Being here has helped her become fearless and know that she's capable of anything! Starting Point Montessori CHANGED OUR LIVES and I will be forever grateful to the staff for giving us a place that feels like home.

My story with Staring Point Montessori began over 10 years ago. I started off as an employee. I was very impressed with the program so much at I made it up in my mind that if I were to ever have children, this is where they would attend. My son, who is currently 4, started as a toddler. I saw immediate changes. Ms. Linda is very patient and her love for the children pours out in her teaching and care for the students. He’s currently a Pre-k student on his way to Kindergarten, and I am very pleased with everything! My child is now beginning to read and do math. Mrs. Friday is truly a jewel. She lights up when her students take on new challenges and exceed expectations. This shows how much pride she takes in teaching and showing her students that they can do anything! I highly recommend Starting Point and I am excited about my child’s future and am confident, knowing where his journey began.
